Stone Carving is a subtractive sculpting process - the material is removed from the larger whole. Beginning by wet-cutting a block (of marble, alabaster, limestone, granite) the sculptor sketches on the stone and cuts the larger areas away. Once the rough cuts are complete the sculptor begins a long process of chiseling, grinding and sanding using.in-line chisels and other pneumatic tools. Texture is achieved by the process of chiseling or smoothed by sanding. When the sculptor is content with the surface and form the sculpture is complete
To clean marble use "Formula 409", apply a small amount to a soft cloth and gently wipe away any marks. Contact us if unsure of the type of material as the wrong application may damage or discolor your artwork. |
